Black Lips/Pierced Arrows Split EP

Atlanta’s very own, The Black Lips (top), and Portland based band, Pierced Arrows (bottom) have teamed up with Scion AV to release a limited edition 7″ split EP that drops today. It’s part of a series where where they bring bands to NYC to play a free show and record limited edition 7″s – all sales go directly to the artists. I never listened to much of Pierced Arrows, but I have to say that I was impressed with “The Doorway”. I already know that The Black Lips never disappoint me and neither did their homage to their favorite napkin on “The Best Napkin I Ever Had”.

The Atlanta Dolls Interview Rittz

The internet has been buzzing over Gwinnett County’s very own, Rittz, after he garnered attention with his feature on YelaWolf’s “Box Chevy Part 3″ earlier in the year. The Dolls had the opportunity to hang out with Rittz at Atlantic Station and film a dope interview. His new single, Rattleback, off his upcoming mixtape, White Jesus, leaks today! Make sure you click through the graphic to check it out and download it.

EarthGang: The Lost Files

You know how technology can be fickle at the most inopportune times? I do way too well. Despite the lost files, our interview with EarthGang is coming soon, but enjoy some of this teaser for now…

West Coast Wednesday | KID

Beamer, Benz or Bentley has become one of those overused ass beats that everybody and their mama wants to rap over. I call beats like these Hoe Beats because they just simply get around. I hadn’t heard a version that I liked more than the original…until I heard this one. I have to say that I’m super impressed by KID’s flow. He’s an LA native (if I’m not mistaken) who’s easily better than a lot of guys in the game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he garners some big attention soon. (And completely irrelevant to the song and why I like it, he’s got dope style that I couldn’t really ignore.) Check out the video and download his verse, here and follow him on twitter here @itsKID.

The Atlanta Dolls Interview Envy On The Coast

Greta and I attended one of the most historic shows of all time, The Fall Of Troy farewell tour and it was bittersweet. In light of the somber mood of one my favorite bands departing, I got the special opportunity to interview one of my new favorite bands, Envy on the Coast. I must say, they’re some of the most down to earth, coolest guys you’ll ever meet. Their sound is like no other band out there, with groovy rhythms and melodies, and Ryan’s dynamic voice, which makes for an amazing live show and album. I got a chance to talk singer, Ryan Hunter and bassist, Jeremy Velardi, about the band history, and their new album, Low Country, which I suggest you run and go get it.

I know the lighting was really terrible, but we were victims of circumstance and sometimes you just have to deal. I think of it as mood lighting anyway. It gives it a certain ambience, don’t you think?
