West Coast Wednesday | KID

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Beamer, Benz or Bentley has become one of those overused ass beats that everybody and their mama wants to rap over. I call beats like these Hoe Beats because they just simply get around. I hadn’t heard a version that I liked more than the original…until I heard this one. I have to say that I’m super impressed by KID’s flow. He’s an LA native (if I’m not mistaken) who’s easily better than a lot of guys in the game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he garners some big attention soon. (And completely irrelevant to the song and why I like it, he’s got dope style that I couldn’t really ignore.) Check out the video and download his verse, here and follow him on twitter here @itsKID.

West Coast Wednesday: Nipsey Hussle

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

It’s with great pleasure to bring to you a true West Coast banger today! This artist embodies the true meaning of the West Coast style and flavor. So before you push play, I’m going to need for to put on your best G face on and put your W’s in the air for Nipsey Hussle’s, Hussle in the House! Nipsey was actually in town the other night and performed at Libra. I’m salty I found out after the fact. That’s cool though. If I don’t catch him on this coast, I’ll catch him on the best one.

West Coast Wednesday: Eye Alaska

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Brandon Wronsk

Last Saturday, Dub and I got lost, caught colds and I discovered my new favorite band, Eye Alaska. I was reluctant on watching, because I had only really come to see Jonny Craig, but after seeing Brandon Wronski don a fox scarf and make a Lupe Fiasco reference I was sold. Being from Orange County, CA, they’re the perfect candidates for this week’s West Coast Wednesday. Hope you guys enjoy as much as I do!

West Coast Wednesday: The Boys

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

What’s up Dolls and Fly Guys! I’m taking you guys way back…when Saturday mornings consisted of waking up, eating your favorite cereal and watching The Smurfs. When your favorite cartoons ended, you tuned in to watch Soul Train to get latest dance moves and emulated them, (well at least I did), in your living room. One wonderful Saturday morning I tuned, as always, and my fandom began with The Boys when they performed live. I was in love, especially with Hakim! So get Crazy with me on this West Coast Wednesday edition with The Boys from Carson, California and their song Crazy!
